A maker can be defined in many ways. One phrasing would be that when you set out to make something from an idea or vision in your Mind's EYE then you are a Maker. It really is not dependent on skill or rule sets. From writing a poem, tinkering with crafts, to building a piece of furniture there are a near infinite amount of things one can do that might be classified as making. In some way or another almost all of us are makers. We like to user tools to tell stories.
In hiring a professional maker a potential client would expect at least a moderate degree of skill with a track record of consistent results. Often times we provide services that assist other makers. For examples we CNC mill a lot of material. Sometimes the material milled is for a professional company that produces a product but just as often we do this for a person that is trying to make something that requires a lot of precision cutting that would best be done with a machine they do not have access to. We have the tools, the understanding of materials and the knowledge.
